I think Fallout 3 presented a better overall environment, but in terms of lore and staying genuinely occupied, New Vegas wins hands down. Fallout 3 does have some incredibly spine-chilling stories though, such as âTranquility Laneâ and the Story of Vault 112, âTenpenny Towerâ, âAndaleâ, âThe Familyâ, as well as the Story of
Fallout 3 is almost entirely detached story wise from Fallout 1 and 2. Both exist within the Fallout world. Fallout New Vegas is set over in the area in and surrounding Las Vegas, where Fallout 3 is set in Washington D.C.. It is generally agreed that New Vegas has the better story and writing. Though people do enjoy playing Fallout 3.
New Vegas had a lot more going for it in terms of gameplay and writing. A lot of the quests were great too. This does not mean Fallout 3 was bad by any means - in fact, I much prefer the setting and exploration more in Fallout 3 to New Vegas. Basically, they're both good and I still play them both.
I like Fallout 3 a lot more. Fallout 3 has the Raw, barebones and survival feel to it more than NV has. Both good games but 3 is captivating. 4 will be a hybrid probably. I prefer the story and writing of New Vegas, but prefer the setting and fewer bugs of 3. I like FO3 way more.
Fallout 3 is SO much better than new vegas. When i completed new vegas i was like: ***? It took me very little time to complete it. Fallout 3 is by far better. I started playing the DLCs. I didn't like mothership zeta that much. Anchorage and the Pitt is good. Which do you think is the best?
It's an old game but far better than 76. Both tbh but Iâd get new Vegas first. New Vegas, get 76 later. I will say that if you have the chance and have a legit interest, you should check out 76 (After New Vegas). Despite its age, Fallout 3's art style (which New Vegas reuses) fits this franchise better than the cartoony art style that Fallout 4 is pushing. This is a regular topic here. 4 is different, and has a more advanced lighting model, but it still manages to be a step back.
3 has like no personality what-so-ever to it. It's all just the same bland grey featureless landscape and buildings. NV was better at it but ehhh still had problems. Fallout 4 has color, personality and looks really good. I'll take having color and unique looking buildings over depressing landscape any day. 4.
Vector apple lunch Jan 8, 2022 @ 2:50pm. Ive always had trouble with mods and the Nexus mod manager and all that hot jazz. But yes, Fallout new vegas is indeed better than fallout 3 with mods. BY FAR. People may hate me for saying this but Fallout 3 is a hotmess of game whos mods dont make the game any better.
Discussion (I apologize if this is a pretty obvious thing, I'm pretty new to the series in general.) I'm playing Fallout 3 for the first time (normal difficulty) and for the most part I've been getting my ass kicked in ways I didn't have to worry about when I played New Vegas on normal.
Example: Fallout 3 captures atmosphere really well, Fallout New Vegas doesnât capture atmosphere quite as well but itâs multiple ways to tackle faction oriented missions make for better replay ability than Fallout 3. Also it doesnât make sense telling people that they didnât enjoy Fallout 3 more than New Vegas for itâs plot.
It's honestly my biggest criticism with New Vegas. Fallout 4 has better combat, a better open world, and better weapon and character customization (cosmetically) than New Vegas. F4 combat has a smoother manual aim, if you like play Fallout more like a shooter, but FNV one is much deeper and has more mechanics.
